External merit-based scholarships are available to highly qualified applicants:

Horst Köhler Scholarships: The ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius ("ZEIT Foundation") has created a scholarship fund for highly qualified applicants from Africa. These scholarships are named in honor of the German Federal President, Horst Köhler, who for years has been known for his commitment in and for Africa.

Allen & Overy Scholarships: The international legal network Allen & Overy LLP offers scholarships for MLB Program applicants. For one of these scholarships, preference will generally be given to a candidate who has passed the German First State Examination in Law; the other scholarship/s is/are for applicants with a law degree from outside of Germany.

Marga und Kurt Möllgaard Scholarships: The Marga and Kurt Möllgaard-Stiftung provides two full scholarships to highly qualified students from Central and Eastern Europe. In addition to covering all tuition costs, these scholarships provide an additional € 5,000 to cover living expenses during the one year of studies. Highly qualified students from Kaliningrad, Russia and Saporoshje, Ukraine will be given preference.

The MLB program offers some financial aid to selected students in the form of a partial waiver of tuition. After acceptance to the program, students seeking scholarships or tuition waivers will be requested to fill out a Finances Form.

The Alfred Toepfer Stiftung F.V.S. offers a one year scholarship for students from Middle and Eastern Europe: Alfred-Toepfer-Stipendium. Students older than 30 years are not eligible for the Alfred Toepfer scholarship.

The Haniel Stiftung has a scholarship program for students from Central and Eastern Europe ("Go West - European Master's Degree & Internship"): Haniel Stiftung.
