The idea of MLB student and graduate of the first class of the Bucerius Law School LL.B. program Max Fischer and his colleague Axel Kmonitzek – to create an internet platform for the exchange of club information – was as simple as it has been successful. Since 2007, over 10,000 organisations involving virtually every conceivable club interest have registered with meinverein.de making it the largest and most active internet site for club news in Germany. The striking success of this "cyber bulletin board" was recognized on April 30, 2009, as both founders were honored with the prize "Deutschland – Land der Ideen" (Germany: Land of Ideas). Their innovative project was praised as a German initiative that, both within Germany and beyond, has been seen as an example of the slogans "Quality Made in Germany" and "Germany: Country of Poets and Thinkers". Present at the award ceremony were financial supporters of meinverein.de, as well as guests of honor including former tennis star Michael Stich and Mathias Nixdorf, entrepreneur and son of the German computer pioneer Heinz Nixdorf. We congratulate Max Fischer on his entrepreneurial success, especially in light of his combining his work with full-time study.
