As a general rule, participants take part in an eight-week internship at a law firm, corporation or government office. The internship runs from mid-February to mid-April. Through the internship, participants have the opportunity to move beyond the classroom and see the interface of law and business “in practice.” Because the internship takes place in the middle, rather than the end, of the academic year, participants are able to bring to their summer term classes the insights that they have gained from their experience. In addition, the internship provides participants with insights that could be useful in the selection of their master’s thesis topics.
All students are invited to take advantage of the assistance offered by the Career Office in procuring an internship. The Program uses the wide networks of Bucerius Law School and WHU in placing MLB students in internships. Obtaining an internship is always a competitive process. Students using the Career Office are still required to submit applications and their profile must match the needs of the company/law firm to which they apply. The Career Office supports students during the application process, however, the final decision rests with the company or law firm.
We would like to express our appreciation to our internship employers.
In order to help our students and alumni to find internships/job placements, we send out a CV book to companys, law firms and organizations worldwide. Companies who would like to receive a complete CV book for the MLB class of 2008 may contact Julia Mertins.
