Throwing of the caps

Bucerius Law School and the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management honored the first graduates of their joint program the “Master of Law and Business” (“MLB”) in Hamburg. Dressed in traditional caps and gowns, the 20 graduates from 14 countries* received their diplomas, after which the students of the new MLB class, 45 participants from 26 countries,** ceremoniously enrolled in the program.

The English-language MLB Program trains business and legal leaders for positions in the international market. The Program systematically links legal and business study, giving graduates a command of both areas. Participants benefit from the international networks of both universities, especially in regard to the excellent lecturers from both academia and practice. The curriculum also includes an intercultural Studium Generale and offerings in the category “Professional Skills.” In addition, participants complete an eight-week internship. Tuition for the intensive, one-year program is 20,000 euros.

Professor Clifford Larsen, Dean and UBS Professor of Law: “By combining law and business study, we brought together two fields that belong together. That our admissions more than doubled in 2007 and the number of countries represented increased from 14 to 26 are just two indicators of the success of the Program.”

Professor Markus Rudolf, Program Director and Dresdner Bank Chair of Finance at the WHU: “As a result of their recently received degrees, many of our graduates now either have a better position by their old employer or have now found new positions. Other graduates are continuing their studies at renowned universities. This shows that we were right on target when we decided to establish this special Master program.”
